How tight is the Texas grid right now?
Net reserves are the number to watch: committed capacity minus current demand, both from ERCOT's own 5-minute dashboards. Reserves in the tens of gigawatts mean a comfortable grid. When they thin toward a few gigawatts, ERCOT starts issuing conservation notices, and scarcity pricing can push real-time prices into the thousands.
How fresh is this data?
Demand, capacity, and the fuel mix update on ERCOT's 5-minute cadence. Zone prices settle every 15 minutes. Zone loads and temperatures are hourly. Each number on this page carries its own timestamp, and /status shows every feed's age.
Can I see a past day, like a storm or a record peak?
Yes. The map rewinds to any day back to January 2022: hourly zone loads, and the real-time zone and hub prices from ERCOT's settlement archives. Temperatures reach back as far as our stored vintages run, and days before that shade by load share instead.
What do the zone prices mean?
Real-time settlement point prices for the eight load zones, in dollars per megawatt-hour. When the lines between regions run full, cheap power can't reach the expensive side and zones separate. The prices page adds the trading hubs and a full intraday chart.
