Curtailment

Curtailment is the deliberate reduction of load — pausing production lines, pre-cooling and coasting, shifting batch processes — during a predicted peak window. Under 4CP, a few well-timed hours of curtailment per summer can cut next year's transmission charges by five or six figures for a large facility. The cost of a false alarm is real too: lost production hours. That trade-off is why prediction precision, not just recall, matters.
