Demand response

Demand response (DR) is any arrangement where electricity consumers reduce or shift load in response to a signal — a price spike, a reliability event, or a predicted coincident peak. 4CP avoidance is a species of demand response driven purely by transmission-cost allocation. At scale it becomes self-referential: if several gigawatts curtail on a predicted peak day, the peak moves.
