What is MISO, and what does this page show?

MISO runs the grid and wholesale market for 15 states from the Gulf of Mexico to Manitoba. This page reads its condition live: system demand, today's peak so far, generation by fuel, and real-time prices at eight hubs.

How fresh is this data?

Demand, hub prices, and the fuel mix all post on MISO's five-minute cadence, from its public data API. /status shows every feed's age.

Why do the hub prices spread apart?

Transmission constraints. One market runs from Louisiana to Minnesota, and when the lines between regions fill, the South clears on its own weather while the Midwest clears on its own. The spread is the congestion story.

Does WattMarkets forecast MISO peaks?

No. MISO is a grid we track: load, prices, DART, and the fuel mix, with no call and no record. The forecast markets are ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, and ISO-NE.
